We survived! Yeah!

Nablopomo07_2_2

Another year of NaBloMo survived and under our belts!  Thank you all for hanging in there with is and for forgiving our absence on your blogs while we tried to keep up!

Its raining here today and we are laying low.  I just finished cleaning the family room and rearranged some stuff so the tree will fit.  Mike has to finish the bog stuff for me tonight.  I need to do the kitchen next and do some laundry.  Of course Abbie is following behind me undoing 1/2 of what I do!  mike has the honor of cleaning the bathrooms and mopping the floor tomorrow.  Oh the joys of being between housekeepers!

With the rain I don't think we will be hitting the park with Nicole and Maddie- maybe another day!  I don;t know if I even want to go out at all to hit the store and Macy's.  I think it all may have to wait until the weekend and we will just work on the house today and watch the rain come down with my favorite little girl.

Ok, off to watch Handy Manny.

12 Days of Cookies

Last year I subscribed to the Food Network's 12 Days of Cookies.  This year I did the same.  Here is the link for anyone who may be interested.  There are some easy cookies and some more involved cookies, but who could tun down any Cookie?  If you have an easy cookie recipe, please share!

As for Miss Marley she is back to school today.  She should have gone back yesterday, but we wanted to keep her home for 1 more day.  About 30 minutes into the school day, I got a call from the office.  They were worried that she had Chicken Pox, nope just a bacterial infection that we have under control.  How is it that the child that would not let me look at her belly is showing it off at school 30 minutes into the day?!?  Silly kid!

Christmas Tree Care

I know this is a lame post, but I am tired today and don't have much to say...except I want to go home!  Bad!!!!!!!  Anyways...  a local radio dj was talking about the steps to take to save your tree and he swears by them and since most of us wll be getting our trees soon I figured I would share it...

The Wallengren Christmas Tree Recipe

#1. At the tree lot have them make a fresh cut of 2 inches or more to the trunk of your Christmas tree. This will allow water to move up the trunk of the tree. Even if they say it’s a fresh cut have them cut it again in front of you!

#2. At home quickly bring a gallon of water to boil. Add ¼ cup of Karo syrup and 1 teaspoon of bleach.

#3. Immediately pour the hot mixture into the tree stand. Keep the kids away and be careful not to burn yourself.

Wait several hours (or overnight) to see if the tree is drinking the mixture. If the tree does not drink the tree is already dead. Return it and get a new one. If the tree takes the mixture it’s alive. Check the water level at least every other day. If water is low repeat step # 2 and #3 and your tree should stay fresh the entire month.

PS.. I am totally willing to try this, except I am not down with dragging a tree back I have gotten it into my house. Mike owuld kill me for even suggesting it!   If it is dead- its just dead and I will deal with it...lol...

This is all you get today.

Why?  It's simple.  Lots and lots of snot and head congestion.  Uuugh.  I took Nyquil last night and it knocked me out.  And ya know what?  It was niiiiiiice!  I kind of liked it.  With that I'll leave you with a few pictures from this past long and glorious holiday weekend.  Have a great day!

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

The Good - It is Monday and I am at home with Marley.

The Bad - Marley is sick (but not so sick that we cannot enjoy our day together).

The Ugly - She's got a nasty rash all over her torso.  Poor thing.  We thought it was Chicken Pox, but it wasn't.  It is a bacterial infection that she got from sitting in a jacuzzi tub for too long.  I am not sure how clean the tub was (this was at my SIL's house), but it seems that they were in there for so long that bacteria entered into her hair follicles and caused this rash.  So we have her out of school so we can get 24 hours of antibiotics in her.  O' the fun.  So needless to say, no more jacuzzi tubs at Auntie's house.

Tuesday update.  The rash is better, but she is still running a fever.  No work or school again today.

Our trip to the zoo...

Yesterday we went to the San Diego Zoo and we had so much fun!  We went with my best friend, her husband and her son who is 2 1/2 months younger then Abbie.  The kids lasted from 9:30am-4:45pm!  They loved the animals and their time together.  We can't wait to make another trip in the future.

I am also 21 weeks pregnant now and feeling our little boy moving a lot!  He is very active, just like Abbie was!  I love feeling him move.

I also wanted to share  a pic of Abbie last year at Thanksgiving 2006...

This year at Thanksgiving 2007.. she is a different child!

By the way, it is getting harder and harder to get smiling pics of her looking at the camera.  She never stays still and always seems to look away at the last minute.

It was such a nice long weekend... do we really have to go to work tomorrow?  ugh!

Why didn't I think of this?

This is a first dance video going around online. It gets good at about 1:15. Enjoy!

Hope all was well...

...On your Thanksgiving.  We had a another great one filled with family, love and laughter.

We cuddled in bed in the morning and then went to my parents for breakfast.  Then we came home for a little while for Abbie to nap and we packed up the car and headed to my in laws.  There we watched football, ate too much, played poker and enjoyed each other company.  It was  another great holiday with so much to be thankful for...

I am truly blessed with an amazing husband and daughter, a healthy baby boy on the way, supportive family and friends.  A warm home to live in, work that challenges us and supports us well.  We have our health and we have each other!

I hope that you all had a wonderful holiday too that left you thankful and happy!

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!!

I hope you all have a wonderful, safe day with friends and family.  This year we will be spending the day with my family.  We had Thanksgiving with Ferdie's family last Sunday.  I am looking forward to a day of family and good food.  Last year my Mom was out of state visiting her sister and Thanksgiving at the in-laws just isn't the same.

I am thankful for:

My husband; he is a wonderful Daddy, Husband and Friend.  I don't know how we got so lucky.

My Marley; she is my joy, plain and simple.  To wake up every day and see her face is a true blessing.

My Family; the support and love that they provide us is unconditional.

My Friends, near and far.  From Rock star weekends in Minneapolis, to quiet dinners at home.  Thank you for being there for me and reminding me that it is OK to let loose every now and then.

Our Home; it is small, but it is ours.  We worked very hard to get where we are and it is a constant grind to stay on top of things, but I am very proud of the home we have made together.

My Job; I am thankful that I have a job that has taught me many things and provided me some new friends in the process.

My Doggers (Rosa and Jet); this was my 1st year as a Dog owner.  I still have a lot to learn, bu you guys make me smile even when I want to scream at you!

Our Doctors; from getting Miss Marley ready for school, taking care of Ferdie when he faints, and my surgery.  I am thankful for your expertise.

Last but not least; All of the Men and Women serving our country domestic and abroad.  It is because of you that I can sit here and log my thoughts and feelings freely.  Words cannot express how I feel when I see a man or a woman in a uniform.  It is the ultimate sacrifice and for that I am Thankful.

Shopping!

In honor of Black Friday approaching, I thought I'd share a few great shopping websites and tell you about a few deals that I'll definitely be hitting up.

My first online shopping rule is that I never ever make a purchase online without first looking for some type of promo code. For most stores it seems like you can always find a dollar amount or percentage off of your purchase or at the very minimum free shipping. Who doesn't love to save money? Along with ease of use, I've found the following sites to have the best and most up to date promo codes:

Coupon Cabin
Retail Me Not
Naughty Codes (I assure you, it's not p@rn!)

I don't know that we'll be hitting the mall, or any stores for that matter, on Black Friday but I will definitely be doing some online shopping in the next few days. My most exciting purchase? Gymboree! The entire store is set to be on sale 30% off on either Thanksgiving or Black Friday (not 100% sure yet which one or if both!) and on top of that 30% off I have a coupon for an additional 20%. That's 50% off of Gymboree clothes people... and most of you know how freaking crazy I am about Gymboree, right? YIPPIE!

There are a ton of websites out there that have had the sneaky peeky ads up there for weeks (maybe even months!) for the Black Friday sales. One that I've been visiting is The Black Friday. It's so fun to see what's going to be on sale.

With all the shopping excitement I didn't want to tell you all to have a Happy, Healthy and safe Thanksgiving! I am so thankful for the wonderful year that we've had and for my amazing family and wonderful friends. Hugs to you all in bloggy land!

UPDATE: Just checked the Gymboree site and they've put the 30% up early. I'm off to shop!
