It wasn't Grease, but...

It was GREAT!

Alan and I had a much needed day away this past Saturday and went to see Wicked in LA.  I've heard so many great things about Wicked and didn't think that it could possibly live up to my expectations, but it did.  We went to a matinee and I guess it's normal that not all of the regular performers always perform during the matinees but those that performed were beyond great I just don't know how it could get any better.  Their voices were amazing!

Wicked

The show started at 2pm and in typical fashion we were running late, hauling ass to get there.  The awesome LA driver that he is, Alan was able to get us there with 15 minutes to spare.  If you have the chance to go see Wicked, do it.  Alan even loved it... and he's a guy!  Two thumbs up!

Nap Wars

It's been baaaad lately. Really bad. The kid just doesn't want to nap and I'm ready to pull my hair out here. Last weekend after fighting taking her nap all day long I finally gave up and went to run some errands with her. On the way home from Costco (at about 4pm!) she conked out in her car seat. I picked her up to try and quietly carry her in and of course she woke up... or at least I thought she did! I put her down on the living room floor to play and sure enough she curls up in a little ball and then sleeps there for a good 45 minutes. It was the cutest thing I've ever seen. Sleeping beauty...

What a week!

It has been a week!  I tell you!

It all started with our Maltese Bailey hurting her leg.  She was limping and not using her back right leg.  We took her in to our vet and she took xrays and told us that she had torn her acl (which does not heal) and needs her knee cap fixed (it is loose).. so off we went to the surgeons office where they told us it will cost us $3000!!!!!  Yes I said $3000!!!  If we don;t do it she will never get back use of that leg and she could eventually have the same thing happen to her good leg because it is taking all the weight right now.  And this quote was given to us after we have already spent $600 on this leg between tests and appts!  *sigh*  just what I want to hear right before having a baby and already anticipating major hospital bills coming in and double day care not long after that.  The only good thing is they said we can hold off until spring or summer (as long as she doesn't injure the left leg) to do the surgery.  It is still such a huge amount of money for a dog!  But of course we love her and are responsible pet owners and will do it.  I will tell you shocking it has been to me the amount of people that told me we should put her down!  Hello!  She is completely healthy and only 6 years old. How could I do that?

Then yesterday Mike got hit from behind and then hit the car in front of him.  Of course his car had a lot of damage, so he stayed home yesterday to take care of it.  He dropped it off at the Honda dealership and is now driving  a rental car.  We are waiting to hear back form the adjuster on if we will be held responsible for the car he hit (even though it wasn't his fault) and if we will have to pay our deductible.  Thank goodness he wasn't hurt and Abbie wasn't in the car.

Yesterday I had my 33 week check up- I have protein in my urine, so I have to go in for tests in the morning.  They think it is odd because that normally means that you have preclampsia (sp?) aka- high blood pressure, but I happen to have low blood pressure all the time and especially when pg.  I also have to start twice weekly fetal monitoring and u/s's.  I honestly don't mind that part because it means that I get to see Parker more and I can listen to his heartbeat all day... it was so relaxing when then I started yesterday.  It was fun because Abbie was able to see the u/s for the first time and knew it was Parker right away.. she was very excited and kept saying he was in "Mama's tummy and in Abbie's tummy".  The only sucky part is it is another drive for me down to Orange each week and more time off work...  That will have me down there 3 times a week until he comes.  Thank goodness I have a wonderful understanding boss!

We also found out that blood banking is now $2200!  Up $500 from 2 years ago when we had Abbie... does the universe think that I am made of money with all these extra things lately????  When do we get to catch a break and win the lottery?  Please tell me!

On happier, non money related subject....  Abbie is now singing... she sings everyone Happy Birthday and loves to sing the ABC sing.  she is so cute about it.  She is also obsessed with cupcakes and birthday cake.  Playing soccer is also her new favorite thing.. she is really good at running and kicking the ball- she definitely gets her coordination form Daddy.  We were also very proud yesterday when we drove past Angel stadium and she points over and says "My baseball, My Angels!".  Now keep in mind that we never point it out when drive by (and we drive my at least once a week), but she just remembers form last season or put 2 and 2 together when she say the Big A.  Either way we were amazed and proud- she is so thoughtful and intuitive.  She always amazes me on what she figures out on her own.  She even knows where we are going now by different landmarks we drive by and she then tells us where we are going - even if we haven;t mentioned it at all.  She is a smart cookie!

And other Dr appt info- I am measuring on track now at 33 weeks (was behind the past few months) and have only gained 3 pounds.  As we get closer to my delivery date, he may make a few changes based on my diabetes and the how the monitoring is going.

And on to even more fun news.. I have my first shower this weekend for Parker!  yeah!  I am so excited!  My SIL is throwing it and it is an Angels Baseball theme as Parker's room will also be decorated in that theme and for those that know us - Mike is a major fan!  I then have my work shower in 2 weeks that Nicole and a few other gals are putting on.  We are so blessed to have so many people that love us!!

Living Under a Rock

I keep seeing ads for the new movie The Other Boleyn Girl everywhere.  Girls on the message board I visit keep talking about how excited they are for the movie.  I asked for book recommendations a few days ago on the same message board and the book The Other Boleyn Girl was recommended.  Seriously people I think I've been living under a rock!  Am I the only one who hasn't previously heard of this?

I've been reading.  Doesn't seem like it should be that big of a deal, huh?  Well it totally is because it's been almost two years since I've read a book that didn't deal with anything baby related.  How I've missed reading a good book!  It irks me that it's slow going and that it's taking me forever to read Eat Pray Love due to life getting in the way but I am still way enjoying the reading thing.  I just placed an Amazon order last week and ordered four more books:  The Friday Night Knitting Club, Water For Elephants, Bitter is the New Black and The Time Traveler's Wife

We had a crazy weekend.  Well, the good news first.  Alan's brother finally came home from the hospital on Sunday.  He was in there for 20 long and scary days.  Thank God that he's now home and thank you for all of your prayers.  They worked.

The crappy part of the weekend is that my poor little sister had a pretty bad seizure on Saturday while coaching kids basketball.  She fell, split her lip open and pretty much scared the bejeezus out of everyone around her.  They took her to the hospital in an ambulance where she got stitches and a tetanus shot that made her sick to her stomach.  She spent the better part of Saturday day and night sleeping which was good for her.  Sunday morning she had yet another seizure.  She was sitting in the living room talking to my parents and started having another one.  My mom said this one seemed to last close to five minutes.  That is a long time.  Poor girl.  They go to see her neurologist on Wednesday so please say a prayer that whatever is going on is done with.  No more seizures.

Add in a trip to Target, Costco and the grocery store that was pretty much our whole weekend in a nutshell.  Alan went to visit his brother in the hospital on Saturday and then had to work most of the day Sunday so it was just me and Maddie.  Hope you all had a nice weekend!

I love it!  I wish I was that creative!

Baby Parker is coming

And we can;t hardly wait

It's like Baby Alien Cruise

That we anticipate

Whatever you do

Don;t drive with him in your lap

And hold on to him tight

Or you'll be shot by the paps

You've been much needed support

Through this crazy hectic year

You're like Dora to my Diego

Like Lutfi to my Spears

I'd never say Auf Weidhsehen

Nor would you but maybe

What am I going to do without you

When you go and have this baby

I also recieved a wonderful homemade card form my hubby and Abbie that was sweet and loving and had a cute pic of my girl on it!  I am a lucky gal!

She can't stand it!

Happy Valentine's Day y'all!  No big plans for us, just dinner at home and then the Hubby is off to his softball game.

I  do have to share this little bit...

This morning Marley came in to my room quite early and she wanted to "snuggle".  Then she blurted out "You are going to be so Surprised at work today!!!"  Blowing Daddy's "surprise".  So now it is all of 6.15 in the am and I know that I am having flowers delivered to me at work (a first for me).  Then she proceeds to have me guess what she got me?  Hmmmm, lemme guess..."A teddy bear?"  "What color?", she asks.  I run through all of the colors and she says no to all of them and then she tells me "Beige".  She NEVER told me it was flowers and she NEVER told me it was a Teddy Bear, she just told me that I am going to be surprised and that what she got me was Beige.  I told her that maybe Daddy didn't want me to know, she told me to "Be Surprised, Mommy."  Gotta love it!  I sure do!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I took a pic of Abbie this morning in her Valentine's Day dress and tights, but of course I left my cord to upload the pics at home!  I am so sorry!  I had great intentions!  I will load it tonight!

Hope you all have a wonderful heart day!  Any big plans?

Nothing special planned here.. Abbie and I made Mike cards and cookies to give him tonight.  I am also going to get Abbie form my Mom's today and take her to school for their party.  I didn't wantt her to miss out on the fun.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Vday

Run Forrest Run

I am so totally fancy now.  My knees were hurting something fierce so I caved and bought some fancy new shoes.  You know you're jealous.  Pain free running is so worth the $90 these puppies cost!  You would've all truly appreciated the process of being fit for new "serious" running shoes.  They made me run in the store people.  Like in front of other people that were in the store.  I had on my nice work pants which needed to be rolled up to my knees so that he could see my stride.  Nice.

And for what it's worth I do run always with my patterned socks on.  It makes me happy and makes running more fun!
