Party Time!

This past weekend we went to my niece's 18th Birthday Party/Debut.  It's kinda like a Filipino Quinceanera.  An extravagant party to celebrate coming of age.  It was a beautiful party.  Kinda like a wedding, just without a groom.  Marley had a dress made in the Philippines, and she kept telling me that she felt like a Filipino Princess.  Here are some pictures from the event.

p.s.~ another offer on the house came in today...we are getting closer.

House Update

We haven't sold the house as of yet.  We did have 2 offers that we countered, the first counter, they couldn't come up with the money and the 2nd counter, we never heard back from them, so I am thinking it is a no go.  We had another Open House this weekend and we had about half as many people come through this one as we did last week, but still good numbers.  The showings have slowed a bit, but I am still optimistic.  We just have to find the right buyer for our home!

This Just In...

We have another offer on the house!  Whoo Hoo!  That is 2 offers in one week!  And yet we had to counter again...Booo.  I am not discouraged, 2 offers in one week is pretty mayjah, but we just have to find the right buyer!

In Memory of Darleen

Marley_lemonade Today we had a garage sale to move some of our ish and Marley asked if she could do a Lemonade Stand.  I asked he what she would like to do with the $$ and she said she would like to donate it.  I suggested that she donate it to Bridget because her Mommy passed away.  She loved the idea!  She painted up signs and hit up everyone that came to the garage sale.  We had some very generous donations from Fred, Mary, Helen, Nikki, Alan and Maddie!  All in all, I would say she had a better day in sales than what we had!  I matched her funds and we made our donation in Memory of Darleen to www.psp.org .  It feels good to see Marley so happy to be so generous.

O'yeah, btw, we have our first offer on our home!  Yippee!!

I Heart Pflugerville

Pflugerville is the name of the town that we are planning on moving to (hopefully sooner than later).  When we were out there for our visit last month I went to this cute little co-op shop.  It was a crafty type of shop that was set in an old home.  The women basically "rent" out a room in the house to hawk their wears and one day a month they have to work the till.  On the day that I went in this woman was working the till and she had no clue what the hell she was doing.  I gave her my credit card and she ran it, but she was having trouble so I ended up paying with a check.  I did ask her to void the sale, but she assured me that the credit card transaction did not go through.  Well, come to find out, the transaction DID go through.  So my friend went back to the shop to tell the shop owner and today in the mail I received a check for the over charge.  How nice is that?

It's Official!

Our home is on the market!  We have a sign, fliers, a listing on the MLS and we are having our first open house this Sunday!  Wowzers, this whole thing is moving fast!  It has been less than 4 weeks since we made our decision to move!  We have knocked out many home improvements, boxed up a ton of stuff, sorted through our stuff for the garage sale this Saturday, and cleaned like we have never cleaned before.  This is the first week that both beds in our house have been made up every day!!  Maybe this is a good thing for me, maybe it will teach me to keep my shit picked up.  I am not a dirty person, just messy, and not very organized.  We are physically exhausted.  We work our 8-5, pick Marley up from Day Care, take her to swim lessons, home, dinner, bath, bed, and then work on more house stuff.  All I can say is thank God school is out right now, I don't know when we would be able to fit in homework, we can hardly get a story in as it is!

I am afraid to get too excited about this house stuff.  I know how much $$ we need to make the move and the market is just so soft right now.  So fingers crossed that we can make it happen.

4th of July Festivities

Hope you all had a great 4th!  Here are some pics from our day...

July_4_2008_001 Marley dressed in her finest festive 4th garb, donned some accessories, a nice necklace, some movie star shades, and a little dog (Jet).  We then headed to the local country fair that my parents would take us to when we were kids.  July_4_2008_002   Once there, we met up with Marley's buddy Socorro July_4_2008_005  where they were quick to go on a pony ride  July_4_2008_003 .  Marley exceeded the height limit for the pony ride, but Socorro punked the girl running the ride, so she got on.  I do believe that this was her last pony ride, she is just too big now.

From the fair, we went home, took a nap and then swam a bit in the pool before heading over to our friend's house for fireworks.  Now this is how I remember the 4th growing up, all of the families hanging out in their yards, parents partying while the kids play.  And the fireworks in the street.  I was great!  July_4_2008_008 July_4_2008_011 Marley was a bit nervous when the fireworks started, but she soon got into the swing of things.  This was our first 4th without her climbing into my lap and covering her ears.  July_4_2008_021_3 July_4_2008_023 July_4_2008_025 (they may look like a bunch of criminals, but I assure you that they not!)

She KILLS Me!

I just about died laughing today.  We headed out to the mall with my Mom to exchange some stuff, so of course we had to check out the sales at the kid stores.  At one particular store my Mom picked out an outfit for Marley and they went into the fitting room to try it on.

I guess Miss Marley told Nana to turn around because she didn't want her to see her "nuts"!  (OK, I am dying laughing as I write this!!)  Nana asked, "Your Nuts?", "Marley, I don't think you have any nuts."  "O' yes, I do Nana."  "Really?  Where are your nuts?"

She points to her little chest, "Right here"!

First they were "Pimples" now they are her "Nuts".  I am thinking she spent too much time with her male cousins this past week.

Home Improvements

We had a busy weekend this weekend.  We (by we I mean Ferd and his buddy Tom, thank you Tom) tiled our 2 bathrooms, laid pergo in the entry way and painted the hallway.

I really wish I would have taken before and after pictures, but I didn't think about it until the "Before" was all ripped out.  Anyways, our bathrooms had the large black and white linoleum squares in it (which I HATED)...so we ripped it out and laid some nice neutral 16" ceramic tiles in each bathroom.

The entry way had ceramic tiles, but there was one cracked tile, so we ripped it all out and laid some nice walnut pergo.

The hallway was just white on white and we really wanted to make the baseboards "pop" so we painted it "Brown Teepee".

Now mind you, these are things that I have wanted to do to this home since we moved in.  It is amazing how motivated the husband got once we decided to sell the house.  We have a few more things to take care of and I will try to get some before and after shots for you.  We have to complete some baseboard work, refinish the shower, paint the kitchen cabinets, and paint Marley's room.  Our home will soon be listed for sale!  Yikes!!
