It's time to say good-bye!

It has been a hard decision, but we are taking the leap.  We are closing the blog down at the end of the month.  The luster has faded and life has become busier (ok, really Facebook has just sucked us in) and we just haven’t had the drive or the interest to make time for the blog anymore.  Thank you to everyone for your friendship over the years here and on chicksthatchat.  We have had a blast and we will miss you!

We aren’t falling off the face of the earth though… we will see you over on your blogs and on Facebook!

Adios and Thank You!

Update...

Thanks for taking El Toro by the horns Chino!  Us girls have been lagging BIG TIME!

Let's see...I am loving the new job!  A lot of training, but the people are cool and the hours are even better!  Love the 4-10 schedule, even if I do have to get up at 4am and work weekends!!

My Girlfriend, Leah, has been out here off and on for the past month and a half.  She drove up to Sacramento over Easter weekend to hang out with me.  (I was up there for training and a quick weekend turn-around trip was not in the cards for me.  8 hour drive home and back?  Nahhh...)  So, Leah came up and we did Sonoma Wine Country and San Francisco.  We had to cross off of some of Leah's Bucket List items!!

Miss Marley has just completed her softball season with the Purple Pop-Stars  P1010014

S7301023 and her first set of Hula Lessons.

She has become very concerned with the whole "Swine-flu" thing.  So much so she even commented that Jet-Jet might have it because he sneezed!

Husband is doing good.  Work is a little slow, but at least he is home every night.  We are launching a new business venture which we hope to have up and running in the next few weeks.  I am looking forward to a new challenge.

So there it is...a little wrap-up of what we've been up to!

A kick in the pants from our friend Chino Valdez

Nicole and I received this e-mail yesterday...

Dear Shootin' The Poop Moms,

Umm...what's going on? I understand that you all lead busy lives, I do. But this is getting a little ridiculous. Those of us that don't have children like to live vicariously through your stories. Every day, I go on your blog for an update and almost every day, I leave disappointed. I want to know how Andrea is doing. I want to know about MK's kiddo's first games this season. I want to know about Nicole's possible brush with the Swine Flu. Please, oh please, make this happen. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Chino Valdez

Hummmm....Do you think this should be our motivation to get posting again weekly?

New Job!!

I have been in limbo since I left the airlines in Nov 2005.  I worked for a limo manufacturer selling limos up until August, when I was laid off.  Come Sept, I worked as a regional manager for "Santa".  I oversaw the Santa Photo Experience in 5 So Cal Malls.  (wow, that one was a nightmare!!)  Most recently I filled in at an electrical contracting firm doing Accounts Payable (boring) while a girl was out on maternity leave.

I submitted my application to a local law enforcement agency for dispatch back in April of 08.  I took my test for the position in October, interviewed in Nov, and started my background investigation in Dec.  I was offered the position in the beginning of Feb.  This Wed, I start my new job!!  I keep calling it my "Big Girl" job!  I actually feel like I am going to have a career again.  Not just a J.O.B.

The training is going to be intense as I am sure the position itself will be!  The schedule is great!!  I am going to be working 4-10s, with Sun-Mon-Tues off, so I won't miss all of my weekend!  I am sure the schedule is bound to change, but anything is better than the 8-5 grind!

Just wanted to share my happy news, wish me luck!!

I have a good Hubby :)

I love my husband, he is my best friend and he is a great daddy.

However sometimes I get frustrated.  He is a very mellow go with the flow kinda guy while I am the more high strung, get er dun kinda girl.  That being said, it is up to me to plan...everything!!  What we have for dinner, where we go for dinner, when we take a vacation and where we go!  Sometimes I feel that we would never go ANYWHERE or do ANYTHING if it were left up to him!

This weekend he took me by surprise!!  First let me note that he has been working about 7 hours away since the first of the year.  He tries to come home every weekend, but the drive is really hard on them.  14 hours of driving for just a day and a half visit.  So this past weekend, the plans were for him to stay in San Jose, since they will be done with their project this week.

Friday afternoon, I get a text saying "don't make any plans Saturday night. Me n u 8pm."

Wha, wha, what?!?  My baby making plans?

Saturday night he took me to a lovely dinner at Spaghettini in Seal Beach.  It was a very nice restaraunt with a nice lounge playing live jazz.  We had a beautiful meal, (I had a pasta with scallops, shrimp, lobster, and crab in a chardonnay terragon cream sauce, he had horseradish crusted halibut) topped off with DIAMONDS and creme brule!!

Yup, I said it DIAMONDS!  A beautiful pendant and earring set that he had purchased for our Anniversary.  I did not receive them for our Anniversary, since he forgot them in San Jose when he came down for the weekend.  So it was like a second 6th Anniversary Celebration.

Just when you think they are all out of surprises...

Reality TV

Since Ferdie has been gone for so long, I have really been able to indulge myself in some really bad TV.  The new "reality" TV, is not so much reality as a bunch of fame-whores acting stupid for the world to see.  Here is a list of my recent favs....

Rock of Love - white trash TV at it's finest, silicone and weave abound in this quest for LOVE!

For the Love of Ray J - I still don't know why I watch this one, especially since the white girl "Lil Hood" went off in a blaze of (I think I'm a black girl) glory.

Bad Girl's Club - A bunch of dumb 20somethings with nothing better to do than be bitchy and claim that they are "workingto improve themselves".  I think I will scream if I have to hear "this is how we do it in the Chi/Boston".  Utter stupidity, but I relate on a small level...I was 20something not that long ago!!

From G's to Gent's - Rif-Raf, with your grill and skittle colored hair, you are one crazy white-boy and I'm sorry you went home so early.  (MTV, thank you for subtitling everything he said.  I could not understand a damn word he said!!)  And Macho, the way you cried like a little beyotch, you're not a G.  MAN UP!!

RuPaul's Drag Race - I am late on this one, but it's got me sayin Sashay Shante!!

For the Love of Money - Anyone notice how outrageous the cast members have become?  Especially Becky "Buckwild" and Frank "the Entertainer".  They are all crazy with it!  Stretch that 15 minutes!!

Now for some GOOD "reality TV"

Top Chef - LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this program, not a thing bad to say, except to say that I am sad this season is over.

No Reservations - Tony Bourdain, not what I would call attractive, but damn sexy!  I love his swagger.  His no holds barred attitude, his love of music, AND he can cook?  C'mon it doesn't get much better than that!

Chelsea Lately - Not really a "reality" show, but I LOVE her humor!

Ferdie should be done in San Jose next week and I will not be able to indulge myself, but for the time being...Sashay Shante!!

More Telemarketer Maddness

Ok, so our receptionist went to lunch and we all pick up the phone while she is out.  I received a telemarketing call asking for the Owner or Manager. First of all you are not going to get to talk to a Manager much less the Owner if you don't know his name!!  So I tell him we are a branch office and he will need to contact our corporate offices.  He then asks me if he can talk to an employee.  Um, yeah, that would be me.  I shit you not, the next words out of his mouth were "you work there?".  No Mr. Brilliant, I just go around answering random business phones!?!

Rant

Grrr...I thought I would start off my return with a nice healthy rant, hope that is Ok with y'all!

I had to make a Dr.'s appt this am.  (nothing major, no one is sick, just need some refills)

So, I call and I am placed on hold...I wait, and I wait, and I wait.  For 10 MINUTES.  No soothing hold music, NOTHING.  So I hangup thinking I was routed the wrong place.  Again, I was placed on hold.  Waiting, waiting, and waiting some more, only this time an o' so pleasant voice come on telling me how "important my call is to them" and how the realize "how valuable my time is".  Uh, yeah right.  If my call was so important and if you really realized how valuable my time was you would not KEEP ME ON HOLD FOR 33 MINUTES!  Yes!  I held for 33 MINUTES only to be received by Spicoli (look it up, if you're not familiar) with a cold.  I go round and round with him telling him I have NEW insurance and he keeps saying that I am a CASH account.  Uh, NO, NEW INSURANCE.  He is half-ass listening to me and then I hear him say to someone, "Send it over to me".  Two seconds later he is placing me on hold, FOR ANOTHER 8 MINUTES!!  You have to be kidding me!  We are now about 55 minutes into this call and I have YET to make an appointment with ANY Doctor!!  I am fuming by the time he is back on the line.  He makes some half-ass apology and then we start the whole 20million insurance questions again!  I tell him just make the damn appt and I will BRING THE INSURANCE CARD with me, but nooooo....I swear to you, he should be happy that I could not reach through to shake the shit out of him!!  I know you are busy, but really?

Fuego! Fuego!!

So tonight was my Niece's 8th B'day party at a roller-rink!  First time roller-skating since I was in elementary school!  Happy to report that I did not bust my arse!  Humbeled to report that I spent most of the time watching!  We had a good time.

Ferdie stayed at home because there is work to be done on the house.  We have some wood beams out front that need to be replaced due to rot and we need to get it done by the end of the month because the association is going to be painting (which saves us from having to paint it).

We start heading back from the party at about 9 and we call Daddy to check in.  He tells me that they just got finished up.  I don't think anyting of it and then he starts to tell me that he saw black smoke billowing out of the vents into the atrium from the attic.  Uhhh..NOT GOOD!  (Crazy thing about it was that both Ferd and I could smell it long before it became an issue, but we wrote it off the the smell of fresh cut wood.)  So 911 was called, 2 fire engines came to the house, found the hotspot in the wall tore into the stucco on the exterior and the dry wall of the interior and doused it.  There is not a lot of damage and it is nothing that Ferd and my Dad can't take care of, but really?  Are you effin kidding me?  First the flood and now the fire?  Are the Gods trying to tell me something?  I want to sell this house SO BAD, but with this kinds ish going on, it is going to make it harder than it already is!  I almost wonder...would it have been better if the damn thing burned down?  Hmmmm....we have a LOT of our stuff in storage, it wouldn't be a total loss.  No, I don't want our house to burn down, but the dude Murphy needs to leave me the hell alone!  I can't take much more of this!!
