Happy Birthday Stacey!
Woohoo! Hope you're having a great day! 29 again!
Woohoo! Hope you're having a great day! 29 again!
Ok, so I'm biased.
We've been having a tough go of the big girl bed transition but I think we may finally be onto a semi-good sleeping pattern again that is if you include your kid sleeping on the floor at least 50% of the time a good sleeping pattern. She's been pretty good and laying down at night and going to bed (provided one of us is sitting in the room with her until she falls asleep, otherwise she's out of the bed lighting fast and will sleep on the floor the entire night instead of just half) but has still been waking up at least once a night. When she wakes up she climbs out of bed, fusses for a few minutes then goes back to sleep on the carpet. Not the best accomodations but what can you do? We've tried putting a pillow and blanket on the ground but those usually end up pushed aside.
Everyday this kid amazes me. On Monday morning she was standing in the bathroom with me while I was getting ready and she was trying to get by me with the step stool so she could wash her hands and she told me "excuse me". I am always amazed with the words and phrases that she pulls out and when she uses them in the correct context. After that she saw me pulling on the sleeve of my shirt because it needed to be stretched out a little bit and asked "is it too tight mama, too tight?". Then she saw that Scooter had somehow managed to get himself locked downstairs (we have a gate at the top of the stairs) and told me that scooter was "locked out"!
Seriously. I'm not really opposed to the new hands free law in California but I am opposed at how stupid it looks when people choose to wear their bluetooth headsets everywhere.
I mean, you never really know when you'll get that super important phone call huh? This is so annoying.
Although not technically part of the weekend I'll tell you all about Thursday night because, well, it totally sucked. Thursday night Maddie woke up no less than six times and decided to jump out of her crib no less than six times. No clue what's going on here but that night it became quite clear that it was time to ditch the crib! I told Bridget that I am about to ship this kid out to Arizona so that we can get some sleep! The past month has been just awful with her sleeping issues which is just so ironic because she's been a pretty good sleeper all along. Bah.
Friday night we had a fun day hanging out because it was my off Friday. I got a facial and that was freaking heaven. It was nice to just chill out for an hour. That night Maddie and I went to Chick fil a to pick up dinner for the evening. We were in the drive thru when I noticed all of these people walking into the restaurant dressed like cows. One family was all decked out... mom, dad, kids and even their toddler and baby in an infant seat had their cow outfits on. I love it! Apparently it was customer appreciation night and if you dressed up like a cow you got a free combo. On another note, can I tell you how much I love Chick fil a? Probably not a new thing for those of you not in California but they're fairly new here and still quite a novelty (to me at least!). Yeah, yeah the food is good but what really gets me is how damn polite their employees are. "My pleasure" is usually the answer to everything there.
Saturday we went out to look for a big girl bed for Maddie and found one we liked but didn't purchase quite yet as we wanted to figure out exactly what else decorating-wise we need to do with her room before buying a bunch of stuff. No doubt it will require painting so we didn't want to get ahead of ourselves. For now we just took off one side of her crib and put a small bed rail up.
Sunday we ran a few errands and then the grandparents were nice enough to watch Maddie while Alan and I went to the movies and saw Hancock. I loved, loved, loved Iron Man and Hancock didn't hold a candle to Iron Man but was still entertaining enough. The best part about Sunday?
Big Brother baby. Love it!
Our daycare provider is on a much deserved cruise this week so I've gotten to spend a lot of time with the little lady this week. It's been so much fun! I've had to work a few hours each day and my mom has been awesome watching Maddie everyday this week while I've been at work. Thanks mom! When we woke up this morning Maddie was in such a great mood so I took advantage of her good mood and snapped some pictures. I LOVE the way these came out because they totally capture her silly personality. Enjoy!
We had a blast this past Saturday at Maddie's 2nd birthday party! This will be more of a photo essay than an actual recap.
Everyone showed up at about 11am for the party. We ate pretty quickly after that (Wahoo's chicken tacos, rice and bean, YUM!) and it was a beautiful day. Things were so laid back this year (way less people than last year)and it was so much more relaxing. We went easy on decorating and did a bunch of Mickey themed mylar balloons along with solid tablecloths, plates, etc. Just like last year the kid was spoiled with so many generous gifts... so many awesome toys, clothes, etc. We are so blessed to have such great family and friends!

She liked blowing the candles out so much that we had to do it twice:

If you've made it this far through the post you deserve a cookie!
Guess who peed on the potty for the first time on Friday? My baby (who is totally not a baby any longer but a TWO year old). Yay Maddie!
Birthday recap to follow...
Based on the fact that our page hasn't changed in awhile I think it's safe to say that we've all got the blah blah blogging blues. I know it's the excuse we always use but life is truly crazy right now.
We all had a big sock in the stomach when Andrea, MK and I lost someone very close to us about a week and a half ago. We fully realize that the gut punch that we've all been going through is nothing compared to the pain that Bridget and her family are feeling from the loss of her mom. I think I've told Bird a thousand bajillion times or more how sorry I am and I only wish there were other words but I'm sorry is all that ever seems to make sense because I am... so sorry. Bird and her sister are too young to lose their mom and their dad is too young to lose his wife. It's crazy because I can still hear her mom's raspy little voice yelling at Bridget when we were younger saying "Bridget Cheree!" whenever she would get into trouble!
Maddie was sick last week with what appeared to be another bout of Roseola or as the nurse said "something in the Roseola family" since I swore up and down she's already had Roseola about the same time last year. Anyhow, it kind of went down the same as last year. Fever, fever, fever, full body rash. F.U.N. Arrggggh.
Alan has been busier than ever at work brainstorming for a big project they have coming up and my work and everyone around me at work are all insane as we're kicking all of our summer programs off and it's crazy!
We're all looking forward to this weekend when we have Maddie's 2nd birthday party. It hasn't hit me yet but I'm guessing I'll get a little teary eyed once Saturday rolls around and I realize that my baby is no longer a baby but a two year old little girl!
